This is a toughie. Anytime there is not a clear winner in a particular area, it
bedcomes almost a religious issue.

Under linux, I don't think that either card is supported well enought to make
one better than the other. At the moment, there are not freely available
fdevelopment environment for either card. There are plans for both of them
however, Based on previous track records, the good folks at nVidia will
probably beat 3dfx to the punch. 

For windows95 benchmark results, check out http://www.tomshardware.com

The guy that runs this site does a fairly good job of going over the pros and
cons of both cards. He is a bit biased against 3dfx at times but does not
hesitate to give them credit when they do something worth mentioning. 

For linux only stuff, you pretty much have to go search freshmeat for nVidia
and voodoo and see what software pops up for each of them.
