[ale] port disable

I've got my DITTO 2GB backpack drive working .... only when lp is
disabled!  When my SlakWare system boots, I get the message that
lp is polling lp0 as 3BC, lp1 as 378, and lp2 as 278.  Is there any
command I can use to kill polling on lp1 only?? I'm looking for some
way to prevent lp from tieing up address/dev/378.  Any help is
appreciated...
