The GNU attempt to do the same...a desktop environment.  Not as far
along, but theoretically better...I won't say, I don't use either.

Ok, time to spot the patterns...www.samba.org.  =)
Samba is one of the greatest pieces of software ever...it lets you
share your UNIX box in a Windows 95/NT SMB network...and the beta2
stuff will let you do NT Domains without an NT server.  Tres cool.
