C Style

When you're writing a program, to whom are you
writing?  I maintain that your intended audience 
is the maintenance programmer, who must interpret 
your intentions perhaps two years from now.  Knowing 
your future readers helps your style today.  I will 
give examples of code I have encountered, and point 
out ways to improve it, offering style tips 
throughout.
