Figures.  Well it turns out to be a mute point.  

It seems from my testing with a multi-meter that the PC shop that made my 
ethernet cables made one of them as Peer-to-Peer, meaning they flipped
some of the connections.  I'm gonna cut the ends off and go back and make
it myself.
