I'm assuming you have resolved whether you have an IDE cdrom or not.

Based on that, the above 'append' entry is the first entry in my lilo.conf.
My suggestion is that you run the lilo configuration program and recreate
/etc/lilo.conf.  You will want to select option 1 and that is the option
that you will add this append argument.  You've got to be sure you've
got an IDE cdrom though.  Please reference Mike Warfield's ealier
response.
