[ale] Ftape problems

Hi-

I'm having trouble with ftape. The module installed fine and certain
operations (e.g. rewind) work fine, but when I try to erase or write
anything to the tape, it goes into an infinite loop. It seems to
search forward thru the whole tape and then rewinds itself over and
over and over and... well, you get the picture ;-)

I'm using kernel 1.2.13, ftape 2.03b, and a Conner drive with QIC-3010
tape.

The attached messages were generated by executing the following
commands (suggested by the installation guide):

insmod ftape.o
mt -f /dev/rft0/rewind
mt -f /dev/ftape reten
mt -f /dev/ftape fsf 0
mt -f /dev/ftape erase (it was here that it started looping; I finally
                       killed it)

Anybody know what's going on here??

Thanks
Janis
