[ale] New SCSI Drive Will Not install

I had a hardware failure two weeks ago which resulted in my purchasing a
new SCSI hard drive. Unfortunately, I'm not able to get Linux to reinstall
(I pulled the HD which I formerly housed Linux on for another project.)

Caldera is working on the problem, but they seem to be at an impass at
the moment, so I figured I could open up to more ideas.

    I'm running a 33MHz 486, 20meg RAM system, with AMI Bios copywrite 1990.

The SCSI system is based upon a Future Domain 16x0 board (I don't know
which one at the moment) with:
670 Meg Maxtor HD, which is home to a Windoze 3.11 file system
2.1 gig Hawk Seagate - factory new, for Linux if ever
Concord III CDROM (relabled Sony drive?)
Anaconda 1.3 gig tape backup unit.

The Linux fdisk program sees the Seagate drive, if incorrectly, and
apparently will modify the partition table. However, when fdisk gets
through, I can only see about 1/3 of the nominal capacity of the disk!

Just for completeness, the system has a Sirrius based SVGA video
adapter, USR internal modem, 5.25" & 3.5" floppy drives, 8 bit Sound Blaster
card, and a NE2000 clone NIC.

My usual hardware friend/consultant is in the middle of a job change, or
I'd pick on him a little harder than I have.

Ideas? Suggestions? Questions? Miracles also would be acceptable.
