First, be sure your system is using the latest wish interpreter. Long
after I upgraded tcl and tk, my /usr/bin directory still contained the
outdated interpreter and I had problems like you are having with
xfinans. The path went to the old version first. And sometimes a tcl/tk
program seems to prefer being invoked as:

wish -file <filename>

One or the other may work, but it's most likely an old version of wish.
