I apologize for being the eternal newbie...
I have a drive that is about to die...It is the default windows XP drive
/dev/hda
here is the fdisk for /dev/hda:
Disk /dev/hda: 40.0 GB, 40020664320 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 4865 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 4865 39078081 7 HPFS/NTFS
here is the fdisk for /dev/hdb:
Disk /dev/hdb: 80.0 GB, 80026361856 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9729 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hdb1 15 9729 78035737+ f Win95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/hdb2 * 1 13 104391 83 Linux
/dev/hdb5 1316 9729 67585423+ b Win95 FAT32
/dev/hdb6 15 1249 9920074+ 83 Linux
/dev/hdb7 1250 1314 522081 82 Linux swap
Partition table entries are not in disk order
/boot is /dev/hdb2 and / is hdb6
essentially, I am wanting to remove the primary hard drive...set the
slave hard drive to be master (/dev/hda) and reinstall grub so that it
will boot correctly...
I'm lost!
any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
